Franklin Family Ranch, Saturday, January 24th, 2009

The FFR is a very breath taking place to ride and visit.  The terrain of the ranch has a lot of diversity.  It has a lot of water, hills, views, and open meadows.  If your horse is not used to rocky terrain, shoes/boots are recommended because it is typical hill country.  The facilities (lodge, cabins, meeting room for food and awards) are located in the 'valley' area of the ranch.  There are stalls and paddocks available to rent located uphill from the facilities.  Parking is available both 'up hill' and in the 'valley'.

It would be beneficial for riders who will be arriving Friday evening to stay in the lodge/cabins down where the food, briefing, and awards ceremony will be located.  You are welcome to stay in your trailer as well.  However, there are no electrical hook-ups available.  The lodge/cabins are extremely nice facilities with a Ralph Lauren flair.  Dinner, breakfast, and lunch are included for those staying in the lodge/cabins. FFR fees:

  Riding fee (horse/day) - $15                                                             

  *Main lodge and Creek Side Cabin (private rooms) $90 per person/night double occupancy   

  *Bunk House and Lower Main Lodge (semi-private) $69 per person / night bunk style                  

   primitive camping (Friday night -free) Sat night - $15

   12X15 Stall (per night, including bedding) - $15

   Paddock (per horse / night) - $10                                                                                    

   *A family up to 4 can occupy one room at a rate of $212 per night (maximum of 4 persons with children under  16 years of age).   Couples only $159 per night.  Rates include Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch.  Children are ½ price.

Dogs are welcome, but be aware that they must stay at the trailers at all times.  Due to the layout of the ranch, there will not be a dog contest at this ride.

You can check in Friday evening or Saturday morning.  (exact times to be determined).  Breakfast will be available in the meeting building around 8:30am.  The riders' briefing will be at 9:00am in the meeting building.  Ride out will be between 10:00am - 11:00am.  The trail is about 7 miles long with judged obstacles along the way and will take 2-3 hours.  Awards will be given after lunch.

Our contests will be:  Best dressed male, Best dressed female, Best groomed horse.

We will take up to 100 entries. There will be at least $525 in cash awards & great prizes for 1st - 6th place. There will be an open, pleasure, and junior division.  See the FAQ page for questions regarding the divisions.
